Iron Monk Organic Oolong Tea, also known as Tie Luo Han is a Wuyi rock tea grown in the Wuyi Mountains, Fujian province of China.

A remarkable Oolong with outstanding depth and complexity, Tie Luo Han is a famous rock Oolong grown in-between the rocky cliffs of Mount Wuyi. These mountains are well known for their sheer precipices, overhanging rocks and gigantic valleys. These rock Oolongs develop a rich mineral aftertaste from growing in the mineral rich soil.  This unique characteristic is known as yan yun or “rock rhyme.”

Named after its legendary creator, a Buddha with iron-coloured or perhaps rust-coloured skin, Tie Luo Han is one of the Si Da Ming Cong or four famous tea bushes. Our Tie Luo Han was made of tealeaves harvested from Hui Yuan Keng, one of the famous Wuyi Zhengyan areas.

Tie Luo Han tea is carefully roasted over bamboo charcoal so you can appreciate the robust flavour and unique floral aroma. The special character of this tea is its complex and interesting mineral aftertaste.  The taste of the tea is full-bodied, with subtle sweet notes of honey and exotic flowers that complement the mineral, stony character. A truly thought provoking tea.
